Keeping the planet cool

Atmosmare supports marine conservation, climate change mitigation efforts, and research in the field.

Atmosmare is a Finnish foundation established in 2008, whose purpose is to support marine conservation, climate change mitigation efforts, and research in the field. Through our activities, we aim to slow down climate change and develop practical methods to prepare for the challenges it poses.

The foundation fulfills its mission by informing, educating, and disseminating research results and current information to the public. We promote marine conservation and climate change mitigation not only through knowledge dissemination, but also through research, concrete water protection measures, and carbon sequestration projects.

Climate change is now progressing exceptionally rapidly: atmospheric carbon dioxide concentration is higher than in millions of years and continues to grow. This leads to the warming of both the atmosphere and the oceans, and ocean acidification. The further climate change progresses, the worse the problems become.

Atmosmare has presented several solutions to curb the growth of carbon dioxide concentration and to slow down warming. We are looking for ways to combine the need for carbon sequestration, sustainable energy solutions, and the protection of biodiversity.

Atmosmare’s board members are Jussi Mälkiä, Risto Isomäki, Jessica Haapkylä, Esko Pettay, and Elina Mälkiä.
