Globally, 2014 was the warmest year in recorded history, and warming will continue in the near future. International binding emission limits have not been agreed upon, and the outlook is bleak. In addition to climate change mitigation efforts, significant investment must be made in preparing for and adapting to its impacts.
Even in Finland, extreme weather phenomena are likely to continue to intensify. Atmosmare has presented numerous methods to curb the increase in atmospheric carbon dioxide concentration and slow down warming. At present, we are specifically addressing questions concerning forest utilization. Our forests’ ability to sequester atmospheric carbon dioxide can be enhanced in various ways.
We strive to find solutions that combine the need for carbon sequestration, increased energy use of forest biomass, and the protection of biodiversity.
